Following an extended period working abroad, Josh returned to New Zealand to partner with John to create Summit Capital. The objective was to establish a long-term, multi-generational finance and investment business - one designed to endure, evolve, and leverage the combined expertise of its principals.

John has over 30 years of experience in the New Zealand finance sector. He has held senior management roles across major lending and investment businesses and has extensive experience in deal structuring, negotiation, and execution. John has contracted to a large global financial institution on managing its financing and investment activities in New Zealand since 2011. He also serves as a non-executive director of various businesses, including a campervan rental company and more recently the Hurricanes. John remains actively involved in the local sporting community.
Josh is an experienced lawyer with an extensive background in structured finance and securitisation. Before co - founding Summit Capital, Josh was a partner at White & Case LLP where he advised on complex financing transactions across the UK, European, and African markets. Josh’s clients included the world’s leading investment banks, funds and private credit institutions. Josh brings a deep understanding of international financing structures to the Summit Capital team.
Malia is responsible for the day-to-day management and servicing of the Summit Capital’s loan book. She oversees loan applications, credit approvals, loan documentation, and settlements, while maintaining ongoing relationships with brokers and borrowers. Malia also manages some of Summit’s equity investments.
Based in Summit’s Wellington office, Malia has over six years of experience in the New Zealand finance sector, having joined Summit Capital in 2019. She holds a degree in Business Management and Marketing from Western Washington University.
Adrian is a Chartered Accountant with over 20 years of experience providing financial, commercial, and strategic advisory services across the public and private sectors. He has a strong background in major capital investment, financial modelling, and business performance analysis, with expertise spanning commercial property, infrastructure, and government. Based in Summit Capital’s Wellington office, Adrian serves as Chief Financial Officer, applying his broad financial and strategic experience to support Summit Capital’s lending activities, investments and overall business performance.
Vanessa is Summit Capital’s Operations Manager, responsible for overseeing the group’s operations and supporting the CFO with financial management functions. Vanessa brings extensive experience in business operations and corporate support, having spent over a decade managing property, risk, and operational services in the agribusiness sector. Based in Summit Capital’s Wellington office, Vanessa plays a key role in ensuring the smooth and efficient running of Summit Capital’s operations.
